Below are my two favorite photos from our beach week. I find myself wanting to take larger, more portrait photos at such beautiful locations, such as the beach. Once I realized I was veering off from the original assignment, I brought myself back down to close-up shots with good detail. I hope you like them!

ReplyDeleteOne of the main goals of the assignment is to be responsible for each element that we include in the frame, to allow each of those elements to contribute to the meaning of the photograph. Sometimes working with a long lens makes that harder. Do you see how the light sky detracts from the composition in the bottom photo? How about the white bench in the upper one?
ReplyDeleteI had not thought about the white bench as a distraction. I had other photos without the bench but thought it set more of a scene, however, I understand what you are saying about the image. Editing out the part of the bench or using a photo without the bench would lend much more attention to the post.
