Week 2: Shooting the built environment

The idea this week is to go shooting in a town or city... shoot where you live...it doesn't have to be New Haven.  Use the buildings as a vessel for design and capturing light.  Move in close, fill the frame... no pictures of whole buildings from across the street, unless the light and design is particularly good... here are a few good examples:

Yale gate... see how the focal point and source of light come together?

Yale School of Management... see the light and design?  Where is the focal point? Where is the light?  See the symmetry and the way the photographer aligned his/her body?

Nice reflection, filling the frame... downtown New Haven...

I found these doing an image search in Google images using the search term, "New Haven"

Art and Architecture bldg, corner of Chapel and York.... Strong palnes of light and shadow converted to B and W...

Get the idea?
